A local Nationals MP will retire from politics at the next state election.

Colin Holt, who served as the state's Housing and Racing Minister between 2014 and 2017, made his announcement today.

"I’ve met many wonderful people throughout the region and want to recognise the electorate for backing me for 12 years," he said.

Mr Holt also thanked his family for their support during his time in the Legislative Council.

He is the fourth South West MP to announce their decision to retire, with Collie-Preston MP Mick Murray, Albany MP Peter Watson and Labor MLC Adele Farina having already announced their intentions.
